Who was Fibonacci, and why was he so important? Fibonacci was also called Leonardo of Pisa. He was born in Pisa, Italy in the year 1175, and Fibonacci was known as one of the best mathematicians in Europe during his time. Very little is known about Fibonacci and his life. It is not known how he died, if he ever had children, or anything else about the personal life of Fibonacci. There is a statue of him in his hometown of Pisa, but it is not known if the statue even looks like Fibonacci.

What is known about Fibonacci is that he grew up in Northern Africa. His father served as a customs officer on the African coast. It is thought that Fibonacci ran into some of the Mediterranean merchants, and they introduced him to the Hindu Arabic arithmetic system. Fibonacci acquired quite an extensive knowledge of the Hindu arithmetic. He even described this knowledge in his book, the Liber Abbaci, which became famous. This book by Fibonacci contains his findings on the Hindu Arabic numbers. The book is also a compilation of the experiences that Fibonacci had, but the original manuscript of the book has never been found. The role that Fibonacci played in the transformation of the eastern mathematics concepts into the European terminology was a major one. The fascination of the numbers in arithmetic is what led to the discovery of the numbers theory by Fibonacci.

Fibonacci has been recognized by math historians as the greatest European mathematician of all time. The popularity of Fibonacci was due to his greatness concerning the field of numbers theory. Stock market analysts actually use the name Fibonacci quite often. The Fibonacci principle is the same as the golden ratio. This is a powerful stock market tool that is used to assess stock price trends.

There is also a graph named after Fibonacci, which is widely used in the today's market. This graph utilizes numbers probability to forecast stock market index fluctuations. Fibonacci, however, was not intrigued by the practical aspect of math. Instead his interest lay in solving theoretical problems. The greatest contribution that was made by Fibonacci was in his theory of numbers. There is a sequence in math, called the Fibonacci sequence that shows his ability to solve even the most difficult of number problems. By using the most powerful methods available, Fibonacci would derive the best formula to solve the mathematical problem.

Even after his death, the legacy of Fibonacci still remains intact. The history of his work is still alive in modern times. Fibonacci had the outstanding ability to solve even the most difficult of mathematical problems, and that is evident in numerous history books.

Evidence of the success of Fibonacci in the mathematical world is seen by the fact that stock market tools and graphs are named after him. He was an early pioneer in the mathematics field, and the contributions of Fibonacci to mathematics are responsible in part for modern mathematics today.
